Game Assets

 Goldsmiths, New Cross Gate, 2016/17

Software:

  • Maya

  • 3DS Max

  • Unreal Engine

My masters in Computer Game Art and Design introduced me to the world of game development and a few new pieces of software in Maya, 3DS Max and the exquisite Unreal Engine. Throughout the year I learnt new and incredible things including modelling game assets, UV mapping, animation, blueprinting in Unreal and all that the game engine entails. A variety of group and individual projects including my Final Major allowed me to showcase what I had learned in what was a highly challenging year. My final major project was entitled 'The Representation of Seasons and the Day-Night Cycle Within Video Games' and it resulted in the production of a constantly changing street scene which accurately showed how games could produce the seasonal changes and proper day-night cycling on a larger basis. I focused on modular building parts which could be interchanged to create differing looks depending on the art style required.
